A project in Swedish prisons

For six weeks in April/May five children and youth from Dandora, Nairobi 11 – 24 years old, performed My Life and Child’s Life in theatres, schools, female prisons and children in institutional care. Children with life experiences in the slums and streets of Nairobi met young and old inmates with tough life experiences in Sweden. Inmates in female prisons in Sweden were presented to the idea of making a sign board for the Mother Tree – The Children’s Meeting Place at UN, Nairobi. Sättilaskolan in Mark Municipality started a campaign to collect money for kids in Nairobi. In Vimmerby municipality the performances interacted with the celebration of the Globetree – a tree famous for it’s connection to the author of children’s books Astrid Lindgren.
